Daybreak on day nine found us under spectacularly clear skies. Our first sight of the Antarctic continent came early as we approached Cape Adare through a band of pack ice. This would prove to be one of the most incredible days of the trip.
With the KK parked in the calm waters off the cape, we were ready to go ashore.
The opportunities for wildlife and scenery photos at Cape Adare were numerous. Select the "Gallery" logo below to view the Cape Adare photo gallery.

Departing Cape Adare in the afternoon, we headed for tomorrow's stop, the Italian station at Terra Nova Bay. Along the way we photographed the spectacular coastline, islands, and ice.
