Day ten found us approaching the Italian research station at Terra Nova Bay in the shadow of Mount Melbourne.
After leaving Terra Nova Bay, we cruised through patches of sea ice toward the end of the massive B15A iceberg.
Day eleven broke partly cloudy and windy as the captain maneuvered the KK between berg blocks to enter the partially open ship channel to McMurdo Station. Mount Erebus on Ross Island loomed over us all day. Erebus is an active volcano with a cloud of steam ever present at it's summit.
