Day Five - Macquarie Island

Early on the morning of February 10th, 2005 we had our first sight of land in days. It was our first stop, the Australian subantarctic island of Macquarie. This island is home to a former sealing station and a wildlife and weather research station operated by the Australian government. Along with our cargo of tourists, we also carried a supply of fresh fruit for the station.

Macquarie Island Wildlife Gallery

Macquarie Island was loaded with wildlife in abundance. I have assembled our images of the wildlife on a special gallery page. Select "Gallery" to go to the gallery page.
