Barely steaming in the foreground is the no longer erupting "Geysir". It is the Geyser that the name gesyer was derived from. When active, it erupted to a height of over 200 feet. In the background mount Hekla looms over the Haukadalur valley. Mount Hekla is Iceland's most active volcano.
